Apercook

March 7th, 2008 · 3 Comments

So this time I’m going to talk about something that I do often with friends: the Apercook.

I’m quite proud of the name I’ve found even if some friends are insisting on calling it AperOcook, saying it sounds better that way (note: gotta make a poll someday…).

I did that on first place to gather people from different kind of backgrounds in the same place and have them connecting through some activity. I thought that food would be a good element to federate people and have them express a bit of their culture. Everybody loves to eat no matter where they’re from. So I decided that I would have people coming over to cook and share their meal at my place and I called it Apercook (contraction of “Apero” and “Cook”). Some would come with ready made meals, cakes or salads and some others would do their receipe at my place with more or less success but always with fun.

I’m the lucky(?) witness of a new kind of (exploding) quiche. Thanks to all the people who have been part of this. I really laughed a lot.

If you want to do this be aware of the biggest matter:

You will have to clean.

I love Apercook because I am always amazed by the wonderful and interesting friends!

I love that we have singers, pianists, designers, chefs, photographers, painters, writers and artists etc all buzzing together over their creative cooking!

I love the variety of food and people, and our shared joy in being together in Paris!

I am so delighted to have friends from all cultures, religions, ethnicties, gay and straight with such talent, creativity and joy in life!

I loved last time when we were all cuddled together around the piano, listening to Ilan and Jim sing, I felt so truly connected! The room was so filled with inspiration, talent and love!

Apercook is a wonderful creation! And thanks to all the people who raise the cooking bar, especially Rachel and Ben!!
